The Exemption of Grace

God’s grace means as much as your heart is willing to receive. It’s like being offered an exemption on an exam score a quiet, unexpected gift, one you may not have anticipated or even realized you needed.

Students respond to grace in different ways.

There’s the student who failed. They experience a deep and sincere gratitude, fully aware that they couldn’t have succeeded on their own. The exemption feels like an unforgettable miracle, a gift they’ll never forget.

Then, there’s the student with an average score. They accept the exemption with quiet relief, knowing that without it, their GPA would have suffered. While they didn’t fail completely, they still needed help.

Finally, there’s the student with a perfect score. They may struggle to see the gift’s value. They feel their effort was overlooked and believe others should have worked harder. To them, the exemption seems unfair, making their hard work feel wasted.

The more we acknowledge our need for grace recognizing how imperfect, fragile, and unworthy we truly are, the more precious God’s love becomes. It’s in our weakness that we begin to understand just how wide and deep His mercy really is.

In the end, how we respond to grace reveals what we believe about ourselves. When we see our need, grace becomes a lifeline. But when we trust in our own strength, we may miss the gift entirely. God’s grace isn’t earned, it’s freely given, and it becomes most beautiful when we recognize we truly need it.
